Types of Doors
There are many different types of doors; Sliding/Pocket doors, folding doors, swinging doors, French doors, and more. Each of these doors serves its unique purpose. Sliding/Pocket doors are commonly used in bathrooms, kitchens, and laundry rooms. Folding doors are often found in closets. Swinging doors are great for many applications in bedrooms, entrances, and offices. French doors are usually in living and dining rooms or conference rooms. Whatever the purpose, we can help you choose the right door for the job.
Door Materials
The materials used for door installation vary depending on the application. Wood, metal, glass, and vinyl are just some of the materials available. Vinyl is a popular material because it is durable and long-lasting and often the most affordable. Glass doors are expensive but they last longer than any other material and look modern. Metal doors are strong and sturdy working great around office exteriors and outbuildings. Wood doors are beautiful and make a statement in any room.
Preparing for a New Door
If installing a door in a new location, ensure there is proper support for the structure above and that there are no obstructions such as beams or load-bearing columns. Take very careful measurements before ever ordering a door. If the measurements are wrong, even by a fraction, then your door will not fit or function properly. You can choose between custom-made and pre-made doors. Pre-made doors are most common as they are ready to install and usually available at a lower price.
Think Twice Before Installing a Door
Before making your final decision, consider the pros and cons of having a door installed. A door can add value and function to your property. However, if the door does not match the style of your building, or if it is placed in a poor location, the price tag may not be worth it. Also, if you are wanting to sell your home, doors can sometimes make or break a sale.
